Founded in 1992, and a member of the North American Brass Band Association, this British style band assumes its name with the permission of Garrison Keillor and Minnesota Public Radio. LWBB’s stature in the brass band world has been elevated by their two tours of the United Kingdom and their new recording “Bravura.” 

The thirty member band consists of numerous low brass instruments which produce a rich, dark, mellow and unique sound. Come hear “something new, something old, something borrowed, and something blew.”

Aaron David Miller Organist Extraordinaire -

“Dazzling player, vivid musical imagination, spectacular improvisations, propulsive energy, foot and finger technique to burn.” Winner of the top prize at the AGO National Improvisation Competition in 1996, and Bach and Improvisation prizes at the Calgary International Organ Festival in 1998, Aaron David Miller has been in constant demand as a recitalist. His repertoire spans all periods but he is particualrly noted for his stylish performances of Johann Sebastian Bach and his imaginiative and highly original improvisations. Dr. Miller's compositions have won critical acclaim. he has received numerous commissions, including the Donald Sutherland Music Ministries Commission. His Concerto for Two Organists, which was premiered and recorded by the Zurich Symphony, is available on the Ethereal label. Don’t miss this phenomenal performance! Dr. Miller's many solo organ, choral and orchestral compositions are published by Augsburg Fortress, Paraclete Press, ECS and Kjos Publishing Houlse. Aaron Miller earned his Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music, where he studied organ performance with David Craighead, Russell Saunders, David Higgs, and Michael Farris, and composition with Samuel Adler and Joseph Schwanter. His graduate studies were taken at the Manhattan School of Music, where he completed his Master's and DMA degrees, studying composition and organ performance with McNeil Robinson. Aaron was recently appointed the Director of Music and Organist at House of Hope Presbyterian Church in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Butch Thompson, Jazz Pianist
In a career spanning over 40 years, pianist Butch Thompson has earned a world-wide reputation as a traditional jazz and acclaimed ragtime master. He became one of the few non-New Orleanians to perform at Preservation Hall during the 1960’s and ’70’s. For many years he was featured regularly on the Prairie Home Companion show with his Butch Thompson Trio. Thompson makes rags sound fresh as the day they were written. Join us for this furious toe-tapping event!

Master Chorale

Luther College Nordic Choir Dr. Craig Arnold, Conductor
Founded by Weston Noble in 1946 as the flagship choral ensemble of Luther College, the Nordic Choir was catapulted into national and international acclaim as a premier collegiate choral ensemble and a national choral treasure. In the fall of 2005 Dr. Craig Arnold continued that pursuit of excellence as conductor of this celebrated choir and director of choral activities at Luther College. This concert will be a fitting finale to a great season of music.
